Man charged with pointing a firearm at police

A man, who allegedly pointed a firearm at police officers, has been charged and is expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court today (19 February) facing a charge of pointing a firearm.
According to Muldersdrift Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Masedi Masedi, he said police are investigating the case.

It is alleged that on 16 February at 11.45pm members of the crime-prevention unit were performing stop-and-search duties when the driver of a silver BMW ignored them when they flagged him down.
“Police pursued the vehicle to where it drove into a yard in Rietfontein Village. A man approached them with a firearm that he pointed at the police,” said Masedi.
“The police managed to arrest the man and he was charged with pointing a firearm and attacking police officers,” he added.
