Taxis pile up in an apparent route dispute in Strubens Valley
The apparent route dispute between two taxi organisations remains calm and is being monitored by law enforcement officers.
An influx of taxis converged on the intersection of Fredenharry/Krugerrand and Hendrik Potgieter Roads near Clearwater Mall in Strubens Valley this morning (8 February) in what appears to be a meeting between two taxi associations.
Gary Jordaan from BCI Security, who said they’ve been monitoring the situation alongside the police and Johannesburg Metro Police, indicated that the two taxi organisations were engaged in a dispute about routes.

He said the gathering grew bigger as they kept an eye on the situation; however, they were assured by taxi organisation members that the meeting will remain peaceful.
“I spoke with the Taxi Association members and they assured us that the meeting was peaceful and they wouldn’t cause any issues,” he said.
