“A Re Sebatseng,” Lets work together
Community comes out to support the A Re Sebetseng campaign.
The community is doing its bit in looking after and cleaning up the environment, proving that the A Re Sebetseng campaign is yielding positive results.
Members of the Georginia South Residents Association and Ward 84 councillor, Gert Niemand, took part in the monthly A Re Sebetseng clean-up campaign. They cleaned out the Vivian Rorke Park in Kent Street, Georginia. Approximately 50 volunteers gave up their morning to assist, and even though the clean-up was scheduled to run from 9am to 12 noon,it carried on a bit longer.

“A special word of thanks goes to the cadets from the Florida Fire Station who also joined us, with one full platoon. The morning’s hard work was organised by the Georginia South Residents Association,” said Niemand.
A Re Sebetseng, meaning, “Let’s work”, is a campaign that was launched last year by councillor Herman Mashaba, the Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg. This campaign happens once every month in different wards and encourages the community to keep their environment clean. Pikitup has also partnered with A Re Sebetseng, and contributes by supplying cleaning materials to the public. This is a great initiative and it is a good thing that the community is so supportive.
