Water at local school allegedly worm-infested

The parents have demanded that the Department of Education build them a school with proper toilets and running municipal water.

Angry parents recently set fire to JoJo water tanks and portable toilets at Durban Deep Primary School, alleging that their children had been hospitalised after drinking water contaminated with worms at the school.

The children were allegedly vomiting all over the school grounds. The parents banded together and went to the school where they set fire to the JoJo tanks from which the contaminated water allegedly came. The parents also torched the mobile toilets, because the chemicals used to clean them are allegedly harmful to female private parts.

A member of the school governing body, Kelebogile Mogwera, said, “The principal is aware of this matter which has gone on for far too long. Last year, when the matter was reported, the old tanks were replaced with second-hand tanks, and that is why they have worms now.”
