Another protest reported in Zandspruit
Motorists are advised to avoid Beyers Naudé Drive and Peter Road
Unrest has once again erupted in Zandspruit, with locals reportedly blockading the roads with rocks and burning tyres today, 24 January.
Motorists are advised to avoid Beyers Naudé Drive and Peter Road as a result.
This is the second Zandspruit protest this year, as the residents went on the rampage on 12 January, after they were barred from invading a piece of land set aside for development.

In a previous interview with the Northsider, Zandspruit councillor, Victor Mafinya, said he had approached the relevant departments (Housing and Economic Development) to establish the way forward on the matter.
Mafinya also predicted a hectic start to the year if a resolution was not finalised. He gave the entities until 21 January to respond, to no avail.
The Northsider also approached the City of Johannesburg’s Housing Department for comment last week, but our questions remain unanswered.
