UPDATE: ‘Houdini’ still around Constantia
The baboon who's been making his way through Roodepoort, has been aptly named 'Houdini', and is still in the Constantia area.
During the past weekend, the lone male baboon who has been trekking through Roodepoort’s suburbs remained rather active, keeping the teams tracking him on their toes.
A WhatsApp group, on which sightings of the baboon can be reported, has since named him Houdini, since he always manages to escape, no matter what.

Houdini has been spotted all over, making appearances on Golf Club Terrace near the water tower, and on Kenya Road in Florida Hills, and finally seems to have settled in the Constantia Kloof area, in the vicinity of David Street.
A team of trackers and trappers from Community Led Animal Welfare (Claw) (among others) follows him around continuously, lugging traps weighing close to 30kg, baited with fruit to try and catch him.
If you spot Houdini in your area, feel free to contact Cora Bailey from Claw on 076 850 4466.
