Thank you for quick response

Chris and Samantha Smith and Alwyn and Anna-Marie Kotze from Roodepoort write:

On Saturday, 6 January, at 3.50pm, just as we got back from vacation, my in-laws came round to drop off our double cab Tata pickup. They’d just sat down after unpacking the last few items that were on the bakkie, when we suddenly heard both of our vehicles speed off, and then the ghastly realisation set in – both vehicles were gone.

I immediately contacted the neighbourhood watch, who responded quickly, but the thieves got away. Our hearts sank as we surely knew that we would never see our vehicles again.

I tried calling the police, but the phone line had been down for three weeks. With my hands in my hair, I realised that I still had the number for Jeanne Lundi, a police officer at the Roodepoort Police Station.

After I spoke to her, she sent our vehicles’ details on to three of her quick response groups. Two days later, on 8 January, I received a call from her stating that one of our vehicles had been recovered. And on the 10th, the other one was recovered.

I just want to say thank you so very much to Jeanne, the K9 Unit and the guys from Quick Response for a job well done – without you, our vehicles would have been gone with the wind.
