I have written many times in connection with the shocking state of the bird sanctuary and every time the ward councillor has replied with a lot of nonsense about how it has been cleaned up right from the dam to the sanctuary. But if that was done, then it would look beautiful and not in the shocking state that it is still in.
They scooped out some of the rubbish but then left it on the side and it wasn’t taken away. The grass outside the sanctuary is always cut but the inside rubbish has not as yet been cleaned out.
I have read a few articles in which the councillor is depicted as busy cleaning up other areas but not the sanctuary. In the 18 August issue of the Record he stated that it had been cleaned up and he had witnessed the clean up himself. Now if that had been done then I would not be complaining about the state of the sanctuary. I know that what he has been saying is complete nonsense simply because I have lived opposite the sanctuary for close on eight years, therefore I should know what I am talking about.
Let it be known that I know also been in contact with the environmental health department and have been talking to Batsile. She has come down here and taken photos of all the areas in question. She told me that she was very disgusted with what she saw. She has sent emails to the various persons concerned with this kind of problem but still nothing has been done to sort it out. If a councillor cannot do his job properly then he should be replaced by someone who can.
