Allen Glen rugby star makes history abroad

The 17-year-old Allen Glen learner, who has been appointed Head Prefect for 2018, made the final cut out of 17 schools across the country that participated in the tournament.

 

Allen Glen High School’s top rugby player, Cameron MacKrill, is currently making his mark and flying the South African flag high on an international level.

The hooker and flank player jetted to Argentina on 3 December after he was selected to be part of a South African Sevens squad which was selected after a tournament at Witwatersrand University.

The 17-year-old Allen Glen learner, who has been appointed as Head Prefect for 2018 made the final cut out of 17 schools across the country that participated in the tournament.

“He was selected after participating in a tournament at Wits University which consisted of 16 schools from across the country. There were schools from Welkom, Rustenburg and Kroonstad, to mention just a few,” a proud Hennie van Vuuren, the head of sports at Allen Glen said.

Van Vuuren added that the Argentinian tour included 12 games from three sets of tournaments from three different cities.

He also praised the youngster for being the first player to ever earn such a selection. “He is the first in the school to go on this tour,” explained Van Vuuren.
