JMPD on a mission to reduce fatalities this festive season
JMPD and various stakeholders from the City of Joburg are out and about creating awareness in shopping centres this festive season.
In a bid to reduce road fatalities, among the other tragedies that occur during the December holiday period, personnel from Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) in conjunction with various stakeholders from the City of Joburg have embarked on festive season safety campaign.
The units recently visited Clearwater Mall as part of their ongoing festive season safety campaign. The initiative involved the Public Safety Stakeholder Relations Management (Community Outreach Unit & PIER) in collaboration with relevant City of Joburg stakeholders such as Internal Affairs, the Tactical Unit, Disaster Management and Community Safety Communications.

They conducted a Safety Awareness Campaign at the mall with the sole purpose of educating the community of Region C about safety tips on road and pedestrian safety; fraud and corruption, fire safety and flooding.
JMPD spokesperson, Superintendent Wayne Minnaar, said these issues should be taken into consideration all the time and if possible should be avoided for the public’s safety.
He added that the campaign began in October and will continue until the end of December, to promote road safety and hopefully achieve a reduction in road fatalities this year.
