Substation testing results in intermittent power interruptions

Several areas affected

West Rand customers have been experiencing intermittent power interruptions since yesterday (5 December).

According to City Power, the interruptions are due to final tests being conducted at the Kloofendal substation after it has undergone major upgrades. These tests have caused short electricity interruptions to the following areas:

• Weltevreden Park

• Constantia Kloof

• Ontdekkers Park

• Honeydew

• Laser Park

• Wilgeheuwel

• Strubens Valley

• Amarosa

• Ruimsig

• Helderkruin

• Roodekrans

“These short interruptions may continue until all tests have been concluded. City Power apologises for the inconvenience caused by the interruptions, but the tests are necessary to ensure anomalies on the network are eliminated before the substation is fully commissioned,” said City Power spokesperson, Sol Masolo.
