Golf Days in aid of Queen Butterfly
Two golf days help to raise money for foundation
The Queen Butterfly Foundation recently held their annual golf day at Ruimsig Country Club, and it was a roaring success.
According to Julie Botha, the Chairperson of the Managing Committee, the Golf Day formed part of the foundation’s annual fundraising events. “We care and provide stimulation for children with profound mental and physical disabilities in Roodepoort, and were very grateful for the support received for our Golf Day,” Julie said.

One of the organisations that always supports these events, is the Lions Club of Helderkruin, and Julie said they, together with all the other golfers attending on the day, were great sports and had great fun while Palesa Mofokeng, the Principal and Founder of the foundation, taught them how to do The Butterfly, which is a tradition in honour of all the special needs children attending the school.
The Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Development Planning, councillor Funzi Ngubeni, as well as councillor Pogiso Kgobokoe also joined in the day’s activities and fun.
The Foundation was also invited to the prestigious Association for Black Accountants of South Africa (ABASA) President’s Cup Golf Day and attended the event as an esteemed guest. “Even at this event, Palesa was received warmly when she went out to teach the golfers how to do The Butterfly,” said Julie.
“I would just like to use this opportunity to thank all the sponsors, especially Jeff van Rooyen of Uranus Investment Holdings, who made both these world-class events possible for the foundation,” Julie said.
