Tow-truck tyranny — Three accused appear in court again

Charges most likely to change.

The three accused in the Johnny Vance assault case, Rudi Steynberg, Stevie Nel and William “Wilhelmpie” Nel, briefly appeared in the Brixton Magistrates’ Court again yesterday (9 November).

Steynberg and Stevie handed themselves over to the Langlaagte Police on 24 October and Wilhelmpie did the same on 2 November after he allegedly first tried to avoid the police. The three are facing charges of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm after they allegedly assaulted Vance to the extent that he required reconstructive surgery.

The three accused are employees of A1 Assist/ Help24, with Steynberg holding a senior position.

The case has been postponed for further investigation, but the Record could not yet establish when they will appear in court again.
