Don’t be so quick to judge

In reply to your question [Anonymous, 27 October], I am one of the people that you imply waste water because I applied for a ‘handout’, as you call it. I can assure you I do not waste water because of this!

I do everything I can to save our precious water supply, I catch my washing machine’s water in a drum and reuse it for two maybe three more loads, saving not only on water but soap powder as well.

I use the bath water for the toilet and plants. Can you say that? You are most fortunate to have children who can a help you out. My children can’t afford to help me. The extra help I get from CoJ to make my life a bit easier is most appreciated and definitely not used unwisely.

Think twice before you put us all in the same basket. There are many of us living on ‘handouts’. You say you are a pensioner too. Are you receiving a government pension? If you are, then you are one of us. Makes you think, doesn’t it?
