Twenty-six suspects arrested in stop-and-search operation
Stop and search operation yields results
The Roodepoort Police conducted a successful stop-and-search as well as illegal mining operation last weekend.
According to Sergeant Juliet Mogale, the communications officer at the Roodepoort Police station, 26 suspects between the ages of 18 and 54, were arrested.

“The suspects were arrested for a variety of crimes, including intimidation, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, assault common (domestic violence), house robbery, contravening of the Gauteng Liquor Act, armed robbery, warrant of arrest, possession of dagga and drugs, malicious injury to property, contempt of court, possession of suspected stolen vehicles, dealing in dagga, reckless and negligent drving, driving under the influence of liquor, housebreaking, theft and shoplifting,” she said.
All suspects were charged and detained at the Roodepoort Police Station and will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court soon.
