Apcan security officer shows positive signs of recovery

Msimango lost his colleague Sabelo Kunyane who was shot multiple times during the business robbery and died at the scene.

An Apcan Security officer, Mandla Msimango, who was placed in critical care last month following a fatal shootout at Blue Liquor Store on CR Swart on 2 September, is currently showing signs of making a full recovery.

Although it is unclear whether Msimango will ever walk again after a bullet was lodged in his lower body, he is currently in a rehabilitation facility to restore his health.

“It is very difficult to say whether he will walk again, but there’s a good possibility with his rehabilitation process to restore his nerve tissue,” said Gerhard Oberholzer, the general manager of Apcan Security Group, who visited Msimango at Milpark Rehabilitation Centre.

Msimango lost his colleague, Sabelo Kunyane, who was shot multiple times during the business robbery and died at the scene.

Oberholzer told Northsider that Msimango is in good spirits and doing phenomenally well in his recovery.

“We met with him at the Milpark Rehabilitation Centre where he was training for a basketball game later in the week.”

“The rehab facility is supporting him with ways to become independent and has about 6 weeks of therapy left before APCAN will begin training him to work in our control room,” Oberholzer explained.
