Residents of Cosmo City are still shaken after Thursday’s broad daylight shooting, which occurred at approximately 2pm.
The shooting, on 12 October, resulted in the death of a man and multiple injuries to others near a petrol station adjacent to the Cosmo City Satellite Police Station on South Africa Drive.
A report from ER24’s Annine Siddall indicated that a man believed to be in his late 20s was killed and another is in a critical condition after an apparent robbery that took place on South Africa Drive.

Siddall said ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene and found the two men lying in the road next to a vehicle.“There was nothing paramedics could do to save the man who sustained a gunshot wound to his neck and he was declared dead on the scene,” Siddall explained. She added that the other man, believed to be in his 30s, was in a critical condition and was transported to Leratong Hospital for further medical care.“A third man and a woman sustained moderate to minor injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals by other emergency services on scene,” she said.

Photos of two men, one appearing to be fatally wounded, emerged on social media with authorities and the community gathered at the scene, and a source indicated that the men were apparently on the run after a robbery at a local store and ATM.
An official from Cosmo City Satellite Police Station confirmed the shooting; however, he refused to divulge any further information about the incident, and ordered the Northsider to approach the spokesperson of Honeydew Police Station for comment. The station has been approached for comment, but nothing has been received as yet.
