Cansa is set to benefit from a weekend of showjumping

 

Horse-lovers and Cansa supporters alike can help raise funds for breast cancer awareness during a weekend of showjumping.

The final leg in the series of the FEI World Cup showjumping qualifiers will be held at the Maple Ridge Equestrian Farm in Krugersdorp from 25 to 29 October and promises to deliver a spectacle of showjumping from the top riders in the country.

Cansa will benefit from a fundraising evening to be held on 27 October at the Usambara Venue and Lodge in Muldersdrift. The evening will include a lavish meal, live entertainment and the auctioning of some special items. Local artists, who will provide the entertainment, include Howie Combrink, Amor Vittone and Ashlinn Grey.

Verity Combrink and her team, the hosts of the FEI qualifier, are delighted to incorporate breast cancer awareness into the theme of the event and hopes to raise funds for Cansa throughout the show and at a fundraiser. Tickets for this events can be booked with Verity at mapleridge@telkom.net. Tables of 12 cost R6 600; single tickets are R600.

The FEI World Cup is a series of international showjumping events hosted by 15 leagues, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South East Asia, Central Asia, North and South Korea, South America, South Africa, the Middle East, Caucasia and Central and Western Europe.

Riders accumulate points over a 12-month period and stand a chance of competing in the ultimate final, the Longines FEI World Cup Final, where they can walk off with the title of ‘World’s Greatest Showjumper’. A total of 108 qualifying events were hosted during the 2016/ 17 season, and 18 nations and 38 athletes competed in the final held in Omaha, USA.
