Hoërskool Florida’s senior cricket team hosted Hoërskool Bekker on their home turf this weekend. Bekker batted first and made good use of conditions.
Brendon Grobler and Conner Estergomi were in top form with the bat. Their stints at the crease helped Bekker reach a target of 194 runs all out. Brendon was the top scorer of the innings with 81 runs while middle-order batsman Conner scored 61 runs.
Florida’s Dyllon Wolf had a five-wicket haul in the innings. With a target set, Florida had to keep their cool and wits to see themselves over the victory line.
However, it was not to be as Bekker’s bowlers would not allow any partnerships to form and wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals. Florida was bowled out for 154 runs in the 26th over. This gave Bekker a 41-run victory over Florida.
