DLN turns 10
Dios Los Niños Private School travels through Movie Land for its 10th birthday.
Dios Los Niños Private School (DLN) celebrated its 10th birthday at its annual school concert.
The concert, which took place on 1 September at the New Harvest Christian Fellowship Church, saw the learners dressed up as characters out of movies as DLN visited Movie Land. Through the show, the learners danced along to music from Frozen as well as Grease.

After the show, which received tremendous applause, the audience could purchase a variety of treats such as candyfloss and popcorn before ‘Part 2’ of the programme.
After the interval, the learners played a few games, which required them to find their parents in the audience or copy a fellow grade’s dance from the concert to prizes.

Principal, Leonie de Kock, addressed the audience of about 200 people about the many changes the school has seen over the last ten years through a slideshow presentation, which showed photographs of the original school building and the school’s first learners.
“The parents loved it, and I got amazing feedback from everyone. Putting a concert like this together took months of practice. We started rehearsing in May and practiced daily for 60–90 minutes. This takes a lot of dedication from the teachers,” said Leonie.

She wrote the play herself in order to accommodate each and every learner. Due to the different grades and age groups, it was of utmost importance for the school to make sure the songs were applicable, as the idea was after all for everyone to enjoy the evening.
