Maragon’s cricketers bat for Jhb West

Maragon Ruimsig Primary School's learners bat their way into the Jhb Cricket West teams.

Eleven of Maragon Ruimsig Primary School’s cricket players have been selected to play in the Johannesburg West Cricket teams.

Trials during which the learners were selected were held over a period of two weeks in August, with schools all over the Johannesburg West district participating. There is hard work and many Saturdays of cricket ahead for these players, but the honour of being included in these teams far outweighs the long hours.

Kelvin Bekker, sports coordinator at Maragon and member of management at Johannesburg West Cricket, said these players are worthy of being selected for these teams, as they are hardworking sportsmen and -women.

Ethan Perry, head monitor of sport, said he enjoys meeting new players from different schools and the experience that he gains from being in the team is priceless.

Maragon wishes all its players a very successful season ahead.
