“My fiance and I were coming from Pick n Pay at about 5.55pm. As we drove down in the direction of the cafe and garage, a man with a box filled with alcoholic drinks and cigarettes came walking from the direction of the liquor store and stopped in front of our vehicle. He shouted something to the driver of the blue BMW (the suspects’ vehicle). “I remember being irritated that he was in my way. My fiance then noticed a revolver tugged into his trousers and shouted that I must not hoot, but it was too late and I hooted.
The man then turned and pointed his firearm at us,” he said.
“At that moment the Apcan Security vehicle slowly drove into the parking lot, the occupants unaware of what was taking place. The man in front of me shouted instruction to two other suspects who were standing behind the pillars of the corridor in front of the shops. They ran to the security vehicle, one to each side, and opened the doors. When the passenger looked towards the driver, the assailant on his side fired a number of shots. The man on the driver’s side also opened fire and shot the driver.

“The man in front of our vehicle then also shot at the security vehicle from a distance. I accidentally stalled my vehicle but at that stage I just held my hands over my fiance’s eyes to spare her witnessing more violence,” he concluded.
According to him his fiance is extremely traumatised and he is currently seeking counselling for her.
