AstroQuiz competition is targeted at Grade 7 learners

 

Four learners from Discovery Primary Full Service School participated in the provincial round of the AstroQuiz. Lana Maroney, Mbali Phato, Ghareez Vallie and Rayaan Banks teamed up with the help of their teacher Zeenath Whitcomb.

The competition took place at the Sci-Bono Discovery Centre in Johannesburg. There were 1 644 schools competing in a variety of categories.

AstroQuiz is a competition based on themes relating to astronomy, and is aimed at Grade 7 learners. The project is managed by the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement. The agency invited selected schools to participate. Each school is responsible for implementing the project up to the finals. The project aims to improve teaching and learning of basic astronomy in primary schools.
