The kickboxers from Team Rage did extremely well when they competed in the Grade North 1 tournament. This competitive event took place at the Brakpan Indoor Centre and more than 1 500 kickboxers from all over the Gauteng and North West provinces signed up. The club’s kickboxers won eight gold medals, which left coaches Darrin Opperman and Steve van Eden beaming with pride.
“We are very proud of all the kickboxers who participated in the tournament. We are now going to work even harder to ensure we do better at next month’s Grade North 3 competition.
Our aim is to be one of the biggest and most successful kickboxing clubs, not only on the West Rand but in the province and country as well,” they said.
To achieve this aim, a number of kickboxing experts will be invited to host training seminars for the kickboxers.
In the tournament in Brakpan, Brandon-Lee Friedlan won two gold medals while Charnè Botha won one gold and one bronze medal. Dyllan Opperman won a gold and two silvers, while Bianca Botha scored three golds and one silver, and Zanel van Eden won a gold and two silvers.
