Sharp-shooter awarded Gauteng Colours, yet again
Local sharp-shooter is awarded yet again for his talent.
On 6 August, Hermanus van Staden was awarded his U/21 Gauteng Provincial Colours for this year for rifle shooting.
Hermanus, a Grade 10 learner at Maragon Ruimsig, has been competing in the Target Shooting Competition Leagues since he was 12 years old. He has attained Gauteng Provincial Colours for the past five years, as well as achieving National South African Colours under SAARA (The South African Rifle Federation) for the past two years.
His achievements are particularly accomplished, as he competes against 1 100 other entrants from all nine South African provinces.
Hermanus has placed first in provincial competitions, including Gauteng Schools (GSSU) competitions, Gauteng Target Rifle Association competitions and SAARA Open competitions 45 times in his career. He has competed twice for SAARA Nationals in his age group.
He is now looking forward to competing from 1 to 6 October in KwaZulu-Natal at the South African National Schools Shooters Union competition and at the SAARA Nationals from 8 to 9 October in Douglas, in the Northern Cape.
