More suburbs to be affected by water outage
No estimated time of restoration yet
Johannesburg Water (JW) technicians have been on site since Saturday (12 August), waiting to repair a damaged water pipe.
According to JW, a 400 millimetre pipe was damaged by a contractor at the corner of Hendrik Potgieter and William Nicol Roads, resulting in an emergency shutdown.

Because of water continuously gushing from the pipe, causing the site to be flooded, technicians have not been able to start repairs. “The team is currently exploring all possible solutions to drain the site. Once that has been done, we should be able to give an estimated time for repairs to be completed and water to be restored to the affected areas,” said Eleanor Mavimbela, the acting JW spokesperson.

It has been reported that Discovery as well as Horison might also run out of water, due to the other water towers running empty, therefore residents are urged to keep filled containers on standby.
