It’s a roadhog kinda day

I am talking about road hogs. The frustration of driving behind a motorist who has absolutely no regard for other motorists or the rules of the road. And, taxis are not the only ones at fault. Please forgive me if I seem to be generalising, but drivers in big fancy cars are often culprits as well.

They double park at shopping centres, skip red traffic lights and stop streets, drive against the flow of traffic to reach their destination at least three seconds earlier or push in front of you because they are trying to miss the long queue that is already forming.

And nothing is done about these people. The sad part is they often commit these offences in full view of our traffic department. Who do you complain to? Where do you go to voice your frustration?

To the Record / Northsider of course. We are planning a whole feature in which road hogs will be shamed on social media. But, we need your input.

Here’s what you have to do: If you see a motorist breaking the law, for example driving through a red traffic light, take a video and send it to us with a description. We need definite proof that someone is not adhering to the rules of the road. A photograph with a description of someone driving through a red light will not suffice unfortunately, a video would definitely be better.

We will use our discretion when it comes to identifying number plates.

Send you photos and videos to wrcompetition@caxton.co.za.

Until next week, stay safe on the roads.

Ciao
