FLCC team to go to SA Marathons

Florida Lake Canoe Club is proud to announce that all the club’s paddlers who participated in the Gauteng Canoe Union Marathon Championships were selected to represent the Gauteng Team at the upcoming SA Canoe Marathon Championships.

The SA Marathon Championships take place in Pietermaritzburg where an upgraded course has been designed to accommodate the International Canoe Federation’s World Marathon Championships, which takes place in South Africa in September. The South African team to represent the country in the World Marathon event will be selected at the SA Marathon competition.

Constant Olivier, a paraplegic who competes in the Masters’ age category, will be one of the few para-canoeists to represent the province at the SA event. The team also includes Ameerah Hank and David Brown in the U/12 team and Sisanda Mthabela and Kamilah Hank in the U/14 team.

Tristan Trican who became the top U/18 paddler selected at the Marathon championships will also compete, while Moses Nghomane will compete in the U/23 category. Shaun Maphanga, the club’s top paddler, was selected to participate in the Veterans’ age category.
