#Badcops case postponed again

Thus far the case has been postponed tentatively to 8 August.

The two Florida Police officers, Shumane ‘Nancy’ Moshoeshwe and Rudzani Tadisi, who stand accused on various charges, including intimidation, fraud and assault, appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court again this morning (4 August).

Unfortunately the investigating officer, Captain Jacques Viljoen, could not attend the hearing due to the fact that his presence was required at another trial in Pretoria. The state and the defence were unhappy about this. The prosecutor said she found it very strange that despite being aware of the fact that he was required elsewhere on 4 August, he never raised the fact. She jokingly said that maybe she should issue a warrant to have the investigating officer arrested.

The defence, however, was not amused and insisted that a warrant for the investigating officer’s arrest be issued and that if he is not present at the next hearing, the state must stop the case.
The prosecutor, however, told the Record that neither of these were options.
Thus far the case has been postponed tentatively to 8 August.
