Community urged to come out in numbers

Lifco invites residents to partake in the camera roll-out meeting this weekend.

Residents of Little Falls, Strubens Valley and surrounds have been invited to attend a community meeting on Saturday, 5 August, aimed at discussing the rollout of CCTV cameras in the area.

The meeting will be held in the park area on Horseshoe Street, Little Falls, where representatives from the Little Falls and Strubens Valley Residential Community (Lifco) will give guests a run-down of what the project entails.

The area, which has been a target of house-breakings and driveway robberies in the past, needs to be made safer for its residents. Lifco representative, Hennie Schreuder, highlighted the benefits of the project, saying, “These CCTV cameras will go a long way towards reducing and solving the criminal activities, speeding, reckless driving and vagrant problems in our area”. He added that the project would be undertaken in partnership with Vumatel, a fibre network company, which is currently doing a fibre installation in the area.

“Lifco received a proposal from Vumatel that would assist in solving our security problem,” Schreuder explained.

“Our strength in dealing with any problems should be in numbers. Lifco wants to appeal to the whole community to get involved and have a say,” Schreuder urged.
