Tripped distributor causes wide-spread outage
Power outages still continue in areas of Wilgeheuwel and Harveston AH.
A wide-scale power outage due to a tripped distributor had many households in the dark for a while on Wednesday.
Areas such as Ruimsig, Wilgeheuwel, Strubens Valley, Honeydew, Poortview and Weltevreden Park were affected, but City Power quickly resolved the issue of the tripped distributor at the sub-station on Christiaan de Wet Road.

Residents were only without power for about three hours during the afternoon of 19 July. However, Beretta Street in Wilgeheuwel and Lawrence Street in Harveston AH are still experiencing some issues.
Ward 97 councillor, Leah Knott, said the issue in Beretta Street is from a new fault which occurred at about 1am on 20 July but power on Lawrence Street has been down since 19 July.
“The load on the network is quite high and City Power has just replaced parts at the Kloofendal sub-station so they may still be sensitive to overload.
Most of our sub-stations are running on overload however, as winter tends to be a bit hard on the network,” said Knott.
