Former Caxton employee passes away
The Van der Walt family of Witpoortjie are mourning the sudden loss of Hannes, a long-time Caxton employee. The 52-year-old passed away in his sleep last Friday, 7 July after celebrating his wife Hester’s birthday the night before. His nephew, Heinrich de Jager described his uncle as loving and caring towards family and friends.
“He was always able to cheer people up and make them smile, and always willing to lend a helping hand, no matter the circumstances. My friends commented that he had been a father figure to them, worthy of respect,” he said.
Hannes worked at RNA Distribution, a Caxton and CTP Publishers division for 12 years while living in Bloemfontein. For the next 18 years he worked at the same companies in Johannesburg.
Hannes died of natural causes. He is survived by his wife, Hester, their children Angelique, Jeremy and Edric, and their grandchildren, Zunique and Jenica.
“There was nothing wrong when he went to bed, but it’s okay to know that he passed away surrounded by his family and friends – those whom he held dear to his heart,” said Heinrich.
Hannes’ funeral service will be held at the Full Gospel Church in Krugersdorp West on Friday, 14 July at 10am.
“What I will miss the most about him is his voice and just having him around – knowing that he is there to depend on or lend a helping hand,” said Heinrich.
