Celebrate all things Italian on #NationalMacaroniDay
On 7 July, pasta lovers throughout the world celebrate National Macaroni Day.
Macaroni – made with durum wheat – is the name given to dry pasta that typically does not contain eggs. Many people think that only the short, hollow pasta is macaroni, but it is in fact the kind of dough the noodles are made of that is called macaroni.
Elbow macaroni is the most common shape used in the United States, but macaroni may be straight, curved, shell-shaped or any one of many other shapes.
Macaroni is used in a variety of dishes from casseroles and other hot dishes to soups and salads.
Celebrate today by making a hot mince and macaroni dish, or a ham and macaroni picnic salad, home-made macaroni cheese, or beef macaroni soup.
