Florida Toastmasters set the stage for change
New executive brings fresh blood to Florida Toastmasters.
Florida Toastmasters Club’s Installation Dinner Meeting for the New Executive Committee, which was held last month, was a resounding success and a fine way to end an extremely successful year.
They celebrated the success of achieving the top Toastmasters International accolade of being Presidents Distinguished for the sixth consecutive year.

DL Steyn delivered his Ice Breaker speech entitled Accept it, Change it, or Leave it, while Jakkie Müller spoke about how he finds it interesting to listen to the many different opinions about how to not adhere to tax advice at social gatherings. Vivien Katzav wondered why it is hardly surprising that hospitals are home to ghost stories that are passed down by word of mouth through generations of young doctors and nurses. Tino Chadyiwa tackled drive as he spoke about how purpose powers the courage and persistence to keep going on, past hurdles and obstacles.
Outgoing president Tim Knights, past District Governor, DTM and veteran member, reflected on the club’s achievements for the past year. These included hosting four speakers from Trinity House Little Falls Preparatory and High School at a club meeting, and having two contestants participate in the Area S2 Humorous and Impromptu Speech contest. He welcomed the incoming president, Paul Muller, and wished him well during his tenure.

Club Trophies for the year were awarded by Tim, and Gaoretelelwe Molebalwa handed out the District Trophies.
Caroline Clifford was awarded the TVR trophy for the Most Improved Speaker while the Chris Kloppers trophy was awarded to Robert de Kramer for Best Mentor. Vivien Katzav was awarded the Quartus Cup for Best Speech and the Toastmasters Cup was awarded to Michael Glencross for Best Performance as Toastmaster. The Charter Cup was awarded to Paul Muller for contributing the most to the club while Tino Chadyiwa received the Archie Halliday Trophy for the person who completed the most assignments during the year. Dawn Hemming received the President’s Special Award for her loyalty and dedication to the club and its members. The Helping Hand Award was given to Glen Campbell for her willingness to help wherever and whenever needed. Tim Knights received the Karen Levy Strauss Leadership Award and Dawn Hemming walked away with the Behind the Scenes Player’s Award. Trevor Thompson from Centurion Toastmasters Club won the Wine Draw. The Evaluators’ Trophy went to Barry Nelson for Best Evaluator while Nikki Quinn of the Golden Gavel Club received the Tim Knights Reliable Trainer Award.
