Safe at service station bombed

Seven suspects were heavily armed.

The Engen service station on Corlett Avenue fell prey to an armed robbery in the early hours (3.40am) of this morning (3 July).

Seven heavily armed men, one with an AK-47 entered the convenience store and held the staff at gunpoint. They demanded to be shown where the safe was, which one of the staff members did. They made two attempts to blow open the safe, neither of them successful.

The suspects then fled in a white VW Jetta 4. No one was injured during the incident.
