Metro police clamp-down on illegal advertising in Ward 97

ROODEPOORT – Metro police hand out fines and remove illegal advertising.

Recent bylaw enforcement and stop-and-searches by the Metro police have yielded results in Ward 97 for the month of June.

Metro police carried out the removal of illegal advertising on Blueberry Street and Christiaan de Wet Road.

They removed:

  • 105 posters
  • 80 commercial posters
  • 10 banners
  • 6 signage boards.

Administration notices for an illegal container and an illegal trailer were also issued to the relevant parties.

During a stop-and-search conducted on the corner of Hendrik Potgieter and Peter roads, Metro police stopped 68 vehicles, searched 32 vehicles, searched 25 persons and issued 30 fines.

In a joint crime prevention effort between the Metro police and the Road Traffic Management Corporation on Hendrick Potgieter and Krugerrand roads, 107 vehicles were stopped, 85 vehicles were searched, 54 persons were searched, and 52 fines were issued.

No arrests were made and the operations went well with no incidents reported.
