National Anisette Day

Mix some anisette into your favourite drink on #NationalAnisetteDay

2 July is National Anisette Day. Anisette is an anise-flavoured liqueur that is made by distilling aniseed – and sometimes adding a sugar syrup.

Anisette is very popular in Spain, Portugal, Italy and France.

Because of its high alcoholic content, pure anisette should not be drunk straight, as it will cause irritation to the throat. However, by mixing it with coffee, gin, bourbon or water, its sweet flavour will be enhanced. If you want to enjoy this sweetness without drinking, you can even make Anisette biscuits!

Although Anisette does not contain liquorice, it does have that distinct flavour.

Celebrate today by mixing some Anisette into a favourite drink, thus enhancing its sweetness. You can also make anisette biscuits.
