29 June is annually observed as National Camera Day – a day to commemorate photographs, cameras, and their invention.
A camera is an irreplaceable tool used to record and replicate memories, events, people and places. Before its invention, the only resource available to document such things was a painting or a drawing.
But there was one small problem with drawings and paintings – very few people are able to perfectly capture the image of a person or place. The power of a camera provided many with a simple, inexpensive and fast solution.
George Eastman, who was also known as ‘The Father of Photography’, introduced the first camera to the masses. He was however, not its inventor, although he did invent many additions that improved its use, ease and production – making it widely available to homes around the world.
The original camera was large and bulky, but it has since evolved into something that can be as small as a pen. Because of its many features and variations, cameras appeal to men and women of all ages for personal, as well as professional, use.
Celebrate today by going out with friends and family and making some memories, but remember to take your camera and snap these special moments! Snap a picture of something you enjoy, or someone you love and cherish the memory!
Post your photos on social media, using #NationalCameraDay.
