Experi-Buddies paid a visit to Agape Christian School to show the schoolchildren the wonders of science.
Through various demonstrations and experiments, Experi-Buddies facilitator, Jakomien De Souza, showed children in Grade 1, 2 and 3 the difference between a liquid and a solid; the principle of absorption and basic chemical reactions.

It was the first time the schoolchildren had a science day with Experi-Buddies and were in awe of the different reactions caused by the experiments on 27 June.
Their favourite was watching a balloon fill with water being and then suck into a glass jar due to a small fire.
De Souza said, “We are an extra-mural activity which exposes children to simple science. It allows children to become more inquisitive and is great for schools that do not have the props to demonstrate experiments in class.”

The educational programme covers problem-solving, mathematical skills, tactile perception and visual memory among other skills through science experiments.
At the end of the presentation, each child received a goodie bag which contained the items for another experiment that could be performed at home. The experiment was to lift an ice cube with salt and a piece of string.
