WELTEVREDEN PARK – Plans to reinstate sections of JG Strijdom Road are underway.
The F46 Rand Water Project will begin the process of reinstating JG Strijdom Road in July.
Project manager, Johan Pretorius, said preparation work will commence sometime between 26 and 30 June in order for the re-tarring and replacement of kerbs among other road works to start the middle of July.

Two sections are estimated to be finished by the end of July. The first section to be re-tarred on JG Strijdom Road will be from Cornelius Street to Besembos Avenue and the second section will stretch from Besembos to Batoka Avenue. These sections will be open for traffic after they have been reinstated. Motorists will enjoy a virtually new road and the process will slowly alleviate traffic congestion.
Future planned sections will be from Batoka to 9th Avenue and Cornelius to Amarant Street. Going forward, the project plans to reinstate the road junction by junction, following excavation. JG Strijdom Road has currently been blocked off by fencing as far down as Amarant Street but excavation is yet to take place.
