The combined talent that these young athletes possess is staggering and combined with their enthusiasm for the sport, they have the potential to reach great heights. Formed in August last year, the group has already successfully competed in a variety of tournaments, namely:

  • Inter District Tournament held at Panorama Sports Complex.
  • Durban (KZN) Tour (teams from Johannesburg and Durban)
  • Safa Johannesburg Festival.

The group has been invited to participate in the 2017 Donosti Cup in San Sebastian, Spain, from 2 to 8 July. The 2016 Donosti Cup hosted 500 teams from five continents. It is a prestigious tournament and an enormous opportunity for these young players to compete in the Donosti Cup. The majority of the RCLFA players have never been out of the country and for some of them the Durban tour was their first trip to the ocean.

Woman in Football Randburg Association Football Club have 10 of the 13 players representing the association in the U16 age group and five in the U18 age group.

The amount required for the U16 girls was R455 000 and through fundraising they managed to raise R332 231. One of the coaches, Theo Buttress said, “We are in need of R123 000 to make this trip a reality.”
