Eight karatekas from the Horizon Karate Centre will travel to Ireland in August.
Crystal Poulter, Nadine Parker, Lindi Engelbrecht, Alyssa van der Merwe, Tristan Clark, Galaletsang Rathebe, Matuschka de Jager and Wilmari Olivier have been selected to be part of the South African JKA national team to compete at the 14th edition of the Gichin Funakoshi Cup, the JKA World Championships. The tournament will be held in the city of Limerick and the karate centre’s Sensei, Wendy Wannenburg, a sixth dan, will be a referee. She will also be participating in the international camp taking place prior to the tournament.
“The standard of the competition at the World Championships is exceptional and the karatekas are training very hard. It is an honour for us to represent the SA JKA team at this prestigious tournament,” said Sensei Wendy.
