Nine of Maragon Ruimsig school’s dancers were part of Team SA in the Dancing Star Competition in Croatia.
The dancers went as a team from the Mario Gomes Hip Hop Dance Academy and left for Croatia in the middle of May. South Africa finished second overall in the competition.
Dancer, Mia Earle Robertson said, “It has been an unbelievable adventure that will never be forgotten. My flame of passion for dance burns even more now.”
Her father, Matthew added that to see his daughter represent her country was a dream come true and he was proud to be part of the most patriotic South African supporters team he had ever witnessed. They stood together, shouted together, cried and laughed as one, he said.
All of the school’s dancers achieved outstanding resultsTheir top achievements through the competition were as follows:
Kaylin Williams and Mia Earle Robertson: 4th place in urban JNR formations (JNR Perfection)
Brandon Goncalves and Warrick Naude: A-League small group (Lil Precision) – second place
Chanté Joubert : Formation: Urban Style Children, Defiance Crew – second place
Jacey Clark: Placed 2nd in her mini contemporary solo
Daniella Thomas and Michaela De Abreu: Defiance Crew – second place (B league)
Connor Hattingh: Connor’s crew, Tiny Precision, placed 10th in B-league
