Biker killed in crash on the N1 near Beyers Naude Drive
RANDPARK RIDGE – It is believed that the man was knocked off his bike by a taxi.
A man (42) succumbed to his injuries in hospital after being knocked off his motorbike on the N1 highway northbound near Beyers Naude Drive on the morning of 9 June.
According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, it is believed that the man was knocked off his bike by a taxi.
“ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene and found a taxi, a light motor vehicle and a motorbike lying in the fast lane of the highway. The biker was found lying a few metres away,” said Meiring.
“Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.”
The man was treated and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated in a effort to stabilise his vital signs.
Meiring confirmed the biker’s fate saying, “Once treated on the scene, the patient was transported to Life Flora Hospital for further treatment. Unfortunately, after a few short minutes at the hospital he succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead.”
