Maragons’ dancers impress in Croatia

Nine of Maragon Private Schools’ dancers were part of Team South Africa in the Dancing Star Competition in Croatia. They went as a team from the Mario Gomez Hip Hop Dance Academy and led South Africa to a second place finish out of all the participating countries.
Mia Earle-Robertson placed fourth with the JNR Perfection dance crew in the urban junior formations category and eighth in the urban junior formations A league with the Rebellion dance crew.
Warrick Naude finished the competition in fifth place in the A league solo juniors and in second place with his dance crew Lil Precision in the A league small group category. He was also part of the Rebellion dance crew that placed eighth in the juniors A league formation.
Chanté Joubert participated in the B league for both her dance items. In the duo urban style children’s category she placed seventh and second with the Defiance crew in the formation urban style children’s category.
Jacey Clark finished second in the mini contemporary solo category, third in the urban children’s quartet, fourth in the urban mini solo and second in the urban children’s group category.
In the B league, Michaela de Abreu finished in second place with the Defiance crew and fifth with the Tiny Flawcision dance crew.
In the A league, Brandon Goncalves finished in sixth place in the solo juniors category and second in the A league small group category with the Lil Precision dance crew. He also finished in eight place in the A league with the Rebellion crew.
In the B league, Daniella Thomas finished in third place with the Lil Perfection group and second with the Defiance group.
Kaylin Williams came fourth overall with the JNR Perfection dance crew, and placed eighth with the Mega Crew Rebellion.
Connor Hattingh placed tenth with the Tiny Precision crew in the B-league’s urban small group – children’s category.
Mia said their trip to Croatia was an unbelievable adventure that will never be forgotten.
Her father, Matthew, added that to see his daughter represent her country was a dream come true.
“I was proud to be part of the most patriotic South African supporters team I have even seen. We stood together, shouted together, and cried and laughed as one.”
