UPDATE: Cornelius Street potholes a thing of the past

WELTEVREDEN PARK – Motorists no longer have to fear the potholes on Cornelius Street near Palm Court Shopping Centre

The potholes near the corner of Cornelius Street and JG Strydom Road have been repaired.

Ward 126 councillor, David Brand confirmed on 26 May that Cornelius Street was one of the roads on his pothole priority list and he had scheduled a meeting with a Joburg Roads Agency field manager to discuss these priority roads. Between 31 May and 1 June, the potholes on Cornelius Street and others in Ward 126 had been filled.

“I can’t believe it took them a day to fix them when we have been suffering for weeks. As a resident I am thrilled and I wish the councillor would continue to look out for motorists’ safety,” said a relieved resident.

Brand was unable to confirm what other potholes had been attended to in the area. He explained that Joburg Roads Agency tends to fill the potholes which have the most complaints, first, instead of fixing potholes area by area.
