National Rotisserie Chicken Day

Enjoy some delicious chicken on #NationalRotisserieChickenDay

2 June is annually observed as National Rotisserie Chicken Day, the perfect opportunity to light the barbecue and roast some chicken.

A rotisserie chicken is cooked whole on a rotisserie or spit that turns continuously over a heat source that roasts it slowly. This type of cooking results in the skin being seared, sealing in the flavour, and making the chicken juicy and tender.

Rotisserie chicken is often injected with a blend of seasoning to increase the flavour. The health benefits of rotisserie chicken have added to the increase in its popularity.

Leftovers can be used in many ways, including making salads, sandwiches and casseroles.

National Rotisserie Day was submitted by the Boston Market Restaurants in April 2015 and in May 2015, the Registrar of the National Day Calendar declared that National Rotisserie Chicken Day would be on 2 June.

To celebrate today, invite some of your friends and family over to enjoy some rotisserie chicken. Share your photos on social media using #NationalRotisserieDay.
