With only a month to go, dancers from Allen Glen High School showed determination to be crowned inter provincial dance champions when they held their first weekend dance practice on 20 May.
Roodepoort Northsider caught up with the six dancers, Msuri Manyike, Nsangu Phiri, Cole Solomons, Nolwazi Ngwenya, Zinhle Shibambo and Ofense Shibambo.
The dancers, who recently received their Gauteng colours for dancing, will get the opportunity to represent Gauteng in the Interprovincial Dance Championship to take place from 29 June to 1 July in Durban.

Each dancer is required to pay R4 200 in order to secure the trip for themselves, which is inclusive of accommodation, dance training, tournament costs, a sport kit, transport and food.
Phiri said their dance teacher suggested the dancers create campaigns to raise money.
Cole spoke about his dance journey and said, “I’ve been dancing since I could walk but I got serious about dancing two years ago.”
Msuri, who specialises in hip-hop, said he is looking forward to the dance competition.

One of the dance coaches, Mike Lamfel, praised the dancers for the effort they put in for the tournament.
“There is a lot of potential in all the schools and all the dancers that qualified to represent Gauteng. Now it’s all about chemistry and bonding, putting all that potential into one unit,” Lamfel concluded.
