Maragon Ruimsig is proud of nine of their hockey girls who were selected for the district side.
The end of April marked the first round of the D2/12 trials where 35 girls from Maragon competed against other West Rand schools. A total of 14 of the girls attended the final round of trials on 2 May.
These girls included:
U/14: Morgan de Jager, Tyler Johnson, Alice Stokes, Shanna Mendonca, Zena Captieux, Nandi Jasmith and Alexia Gerber
U/16: Sasha Kunaka, Tumisang Leshoeli, Eleni Manias and Jennifer Young
U/18: Thalia Evgeniou, Caylin Barendsen and Danne Meyer
“Out of these girls, nine young ladies were chosen for the district side. An amazing achievement considering they were selected from over 300 girls across the West Rand. The purpose of this event was to select players to represent the district and allow them to be eligible for selection to the Southern Gauteng provincial hockey sides.We are very proud of our young ladies for their hard work and dedication,” said Maragon Ruimsig hockey coach, Marc Richardson.
