Life Wilgehuewel Hospital celebrates its nursing staff

WILGEHEUWEL – Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital acknowledges the hard work of their nurses on International Nurses' Day.

 

Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital celebrated its nursing staff with a special breakfast on International Nurses Day.

The hospital used the opportunity to acknowledge and thank its nurses for their dedication and commitment to their patients. The nurses and management staff were treated to a breakfast of croissants, cupcakes and good coffee.

Registered nurse Khomotso Phele and nursing standards manager, Menick Wessels are part of the Top 100 nurses across Life Healthcare.

The theme of the day this year was ‘Nurses: A Voice to Lead’. Members of the management staff said a few words of encouragement and thanks. Two nurses, who were part of Life Healthcare’s Great 100 Nurses list this year, were asked to say a few words about their work. The list acknowledges the great work of exceptional nurses across the country under Life Healthcare.

Registered nurse and one of the Great 100 Nurses, Khomotso Phele, said she is proud to be a nurse and she is glad the work of nurses is recognised on International Nurses Day. She added that if your heart is in your work and you work hard, it does pay off.

A small remembrance corner was set up for Florence Nightingale’s birthday.

Hospital manager, Adri Botes, said,

“International Nurses Day and the initiatives such as Life Healthcare’s Great 100 Nurses provide opportunities to focus on the excellent work being carried out by our nursing team who strive for clinical excellence while delivering quality care to our patients. Our vision for nursing is to create the very best experience for our patients by placing them at the centre of care.”

Nurses attended the breakfast in shifts so as not to neglect any of the patients. International Nurses Day is celebrated on 12 May as it is Florence Nightingale’s birthday, who is seen as the founder of modern nursing.
